I am currently enjoying my fifth year at Greenmont Elementary and my eighth year as a classroom teacher. My previous three years I was a middle school math teacher in Southwest Virginia (Blacksburg, Christiansburg, Radford). My wife, Amber, and I have three beautiful children, Charis (5) and Elias (3), and Calista (<1). She is a former Greenmont Grizzly and holds a Bachelor's and Master's Degree in Engineering (ESM) from Virginia Tech. I am currently finishing up my Masters Degree in Educational Technology through San Diego State University and am always trying to incorporate my love and knowledge of technology and multimedia. We now live in a postindustrial society and I feel it is our job as teachers to prepare students for the global marketplace they will some day enter. That begins with the basics of reading, writing, and arithmetic (the 3 Rs), but extends beyond that to effectively communicating, collaborating, creating ideas, and critical thinking (my 4 Cs). Skills I try to weave into every activity I assign. If you ever have a question, please contact me in any number of ways. I consider myself part of a team of people that includes students, parents, relatives, the principal, other teachers, custodians, board members, etc. that all play an important role in education the future of America. And I take my role very seriously and work as hard as I can to make the short amount of time I have with them a fun, memorable, and quality learning experience. km
